My name is Peter Thompson
You probably might like to know something about me before considering my coaching services, yes?
I've enjoyed a varied and challenging working life - from farming in Norfolk to construction sites in Australia, I went on to serve as a Royal Marine Commando in my 20s.
I was just about as fit, active and confident as a man could get.
After leaving the military in my late 20s, I worked as a teacher both in the UK and overseas. I relished the fact that I was diving into another challenging and fulfilling career.
Into my 30s, I still loved the thrill of full on activities such as skiing, kite surfing and mountaineering. I coached large groups of students through the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme and managed a range of adventurous trips across the world.
So, my life and mood still felt fantastic and fulfilling.
At the same time, I had settled down to family life and was loving being a father to my two young childen.
During my mid to late 40's, despite seeming to have it all to the outside world, I became increasingly disatisfied with life.
I couldn't really put my finger on what was wrong but my energy was down, I felt irritable, ill, mildly depressed and began to despair at the thought of getting older, fatter, sicker, sadder and so on.
It all came to a head at a work's Christmas party. Once again I pulled on my mask of pretending to have a great time, dancing and drinking.
But I also got the chance to open up to a friend about how I was feeling - she told me that another friend of hers (same age, ex-military, good career, money, family - a carbon copy of me) had committed suicide only 6 months previously.
"What would you do if you KNEW you were going to die in six months time, Pete?!"
That was the question which gave me the courage to transform my life.
As a result of my own journey and research,
I created the How 2 Thrive programme to support people going through midlife, but they know they want more.
More energy.
More vitality.
More smiles.
More positive attitude.
More LIFE.
Disclaimer....I'm NOT your typical life coach/counsellor/therapist type....I'm no angel, so don't expect a mystical guy in white linen to float into your life.
I'm down to Earth, have made plenty of mistakes, come through my own midlife struggles and as a result I know how to support you with yours.
I've studied NLP, counselling, leadership, coaching and positive behaviour management.
These interests and skills have been developed and honed by my professional development as a teacher, Royal Marine, outdoor instructor and coach.
If any aspect of my journey resonates with you, then get in touch to see how I can support you
to thrive again!
